TAF partners with school districts, educators, and organizations to challenge the current public education system. We address the entire public education system, from top-to-bottom, providing STEM skills and equitable, anti-racist education environments where all students can succeed and by working with emerging and established educators and education leaders of color to improve representation at every level.  

Position Description

College and Career Readiness (CCR) is a pillar of the STEMbyTAF model and is a core component of TAF’s work with K-12 students.

TAF’s CCR Program aims to help students meet their post-secondary goals by preparing them to graduate and attend the college of their choice or enter their professional field of interest and participate as engaged and contributing citizens in their communities.

The College and Career Readiness Program Manager is responsible for leading college and career readiness initiatives within TAF@Saghalie, TAF’s 6th-12th grade partner school. They will also manage partnership programs related to college and career postsecondary readiness, including postsecondary exploration, high school internships and other STEM career-connected learning opportunities for TAF@Saghalie students.

TAF is hiring for a short-term College and Career Readiness Program Manager position, with limited responsibilities, that ends on February 28, 2025.

We are looking for an energetic, collaborative, and enthusiastic individual, who has a passion for helping students prepare for their post-secondary life. Someone with a personal mission that includes racial equity, education, and social justice. The ideal candidate for this position is a self-starter, team oriented, and can manage projects and get them off the ground quickly. 

Primary Responsibilities

The majority of the work is planning and running events for our students, including but not limited to:

  • Planning for a major College and Career Fair Event on March 20th at Highline Community College where you will foster existing and establish new partnerships with colleges, universities, trade schools and post-secondary certificate programs to participate in the event.
  • Organize regional college fair field trips
  • Planning a College Readiness Workshop for Families
  • Partner with school counselors with scholarship and FAFSA applications
  • Partner with school counselors to plan and conduct workshops and lessons to be delivered during lunch, classes, or after school for both Middle and High School students.
  • Gather information on scholarships and internships to share with counselors and students.
  • College counseling and planning, including college/career awareness, college knowledge, public speaking skills, scholarships, FAFSA/WASFA and other financial aid.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated use of project management skills and ability to take full ownership of programs and projects, including program strategy and work plans 
  • Deep understanding of college admissions, financial aid, and alternative postsecondary vocational programs   
  • Possess organization and time management systems for self and stakeholders 
  • Knowledge of school and district organization and policy 
  • Familiarity working in diverse, multi-cultural and bilingual environments 
  • Possess strong Interpersonal skills; having the ability to build positive relationships 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to present to diverse audiences, specifically racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse communities 
  • Facilitate collaboration of team members and internal and external colleagues   
  • Exceptional attention to detail 
  • The ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

Special Requirements  

  • Pass all required criminal and child abuse background checks 
  • Reliable transportation

Preferred education, experience & competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree, certification or at least 3 years' experience as a program manager 
  • Knowledge of best practices and standards for college and career readiness  
  • Knowledge of local college and career readiness organizations and processes.  

Compensation

You will be temporary staff paid at a rate of $35/hour.
